If you knew you were dying of skin cancer, you wouldn't need to see him. He's a diagnostician.

Frequently, but not necessarily. Dr. House specializes in solving cases no one else can-- it isn't always a matter of the rarity of the disease. Sometimes it's an unusual presentation, or a result of factors other doctors didn't consider.
