[Cameron is out and about as she would be any other day. Life in the City marches on regardless of its Citizen's small troubles, curses and chaos becoming commonplace after a while. She not compelled to do anything ridiculous at the moment, so she's going about business as usual.

This means Cameron's fair game wherever you might bump into her-- on the way to or from the hospital, in City General itself, out for lunch or a cup of coffee-- so tell her whatever you want to tell her. She's a good listener.]



[ooc; open action is open! i would love to have her meet some new people too so don't be afraid to toss someone at her even if they've never spoken before. :3]

Certainly.

[Even if she wasn't, she likes to make an effort for Mindy. The girl needs some stability, after all.]

[ Let's just say this is a glide, and Mindy has taken to arranging things in "her" room (weapons under the floorboards that is), before she pops out of the door and tosses a bag of frosted animal crackers on the coffee table. ]

Thought you might want something processed and awesome. [ Mindy declares, as she plops herself on Cameron's couch, snapping on the tv as if she owned the place. Channel surfing, and more channel surfing until she speaks up again. ] Cut up anything up at work?

[Mindy's not the first to hide guns in that room, but of course there's no reason she needs to know that.]

It wasn't a productive day, actually.

[Cameron's paging through a book, and she can more or less ignore the television. Honestly, Mindy probably watches it more than she does, the occasional movie night aside.]

[ She ends of landing on some sort of wrestling program. One of the guys twists the other's arm around his neck. That's got to hurt. ]

Least you guys do more than the police.

[Such violence. There's a little tightness at the corner of her lip, but that's all the disapproval she'll register.]

I'm sure they do the best they can manage. How has your day been?

Same old, same old. [ That saying would work if she'd ever told Cameron what she was really doing. ] And they really do kind of suck, Cameron. You're being too nice.

I'm just coming from a different perspective. What I do for a living is nearly obsolete in the City, too; so I can sympathize.

Not as much. [ There's an abrupt pause, when Mindy turns to face Cameron, expression breaking down into something momentarily vulnerable.] Doctors saved my life, you know. When I was born.

[She doesn't start, because people have been telling her things all day; but she does turn all her attention to Mindy, finger curling into the book to hold her place. Matters of import.]

Did they?

Mom tried to kill herself when she was pregnant, OD'ed on pills. [ The words tumble out, pushed by a unforeseen gale-- a curse. ] She did it, but they saved me.

[There are any number of things she'd say if she thought, for a second, that Mindy was saying any of this willingly.] Sometimes that's the best doctors can manage, in a case like that. [It's a lame comment, not really comforting, and she knows it.]

Yeah. [ Her shoulders hunch as she slouches, eyes glued to the carpet with an intensity that would unravel thread. ] They did their best. Mom was- she was just a coward, dying for nothing.

[Compassion has always been the name of Cameron's game, but now and then-- with Mindy especially-- she can't help a deep-seated, vaguely motherly twinge.]

It's hard, trying to understand why people do that. I don't think you can, most of the time.
