[AUDIO;]

Whoa...

[There's a long pause, and then some fumbling as she realizes she has an unfamiliar electronic thingy with her. Well, when in Rome.]

Um...
Hello? Can anyone hear this?

[ooc; age reversed for the hell of it~ she's 19ish, idk. in college, but not married yet ♥ fffff will be slow while i finish making some more icons~]

[Well, he is man. Just doing as men do - being protective of their womenfolk in much the same way that a caveman might have been in the face of a similar threat - had dinosaurs and humans existed concurrently in any timeline outside of the movies. With both of their heart rates gradually edging back towards a steady pace, he folds his arm carefully around her shoulder, edging her toward the other path.]

Why don't we take the back route past him? I doubt the view will be any prettier, but we should be out of snacking range.

You think it's a he? [Chase looks down with a grin and a raise of one eyebrow.] Nature shows us time and time again, it's always the women who are going to rip you apart.

[Once out of the range of that great toothy muzzle - so oddly recognisable and yet nothing quite like any of the versions Hollywood has postulated on - he takes his arm back. Almost apologetically, as though trying to protect (as though protecting would be possible in the face of an actual threat) was somehow a liberty on his part. He bumps his shoulder lightly with hers to make up for the loss, now watching the scuff of his feet on the dirt path.]

Neither can I, and it's been two months.

I just walked in here. So far it's turning out to be the longest lunch hour I ever took.

[And that includes the time he fell asleep in the surgical prep room after an all nighter in the lab. He'd been left with the outline of the contents of a syringe tray pressed into his cheek for the better part of an afternoon.]

Now I work at the clinic and hospital here. Fewer all out emergencies, but you end up with a lot more eggs in your basket.

Nope. [Simple question, simple answer. Chase can't see any way he'll ever like this place better than the real world, precisely because of that definition. None of this is real. He doesn't quite, like Cameron, consider it a waste of time - it's just not his. He likes to think he knows better than to get attached to something near guaranteed to be snatched away.]

I like it enough, I guess. Day to day you kind of get used to the insanity. But it's not my life. I'd like to get back to that.

[The path curves to avoid the swish-radius of dino's tail, and then forks off in a new direction that seems a lot brighter than the dinosaur pens, with little stands set up along the way.]

You want an ice cream? A balloon?

Sure? Looks like they have some interesting shapes. You don't want your very own purple zebra?

[He's (mostly) kidding about the balloons, she's young but she's not three. That said, he's getting to know more people here who would take him up on the balloon offer despite being the same age as college-Cameron, or even twice it. Maybe it's a test of how different she ever was.]

[He nudges her shoulder again and lowers his voice to a conspiratorial tone.]
I only asked because I'm getting an ice.

Suit yourself. You go ahead, I'll meet you down by the unicorns.

[Those, he has heard about. From every single girl or woman he's spoken to in the city. He can't go wrong with unicorns, right?]

[And he keeps an eye out for her, catching up not long after with a sugar cone of something green and supposedly pistachio flavoured. He's tempted - far too tempted - to creep up quietly and try an imitation dino growl beside her ear but, unfortunately, he's the grown up one here. Something he might have done were this the Cameron he knows, sure she already dismisses him as childish a fair percentage of the time, gets put on the back burner in the name of not making a bad first impression.]

[So he weights his steps enough for her to hear him coming, catching a verdant drip of ice cream on his tongue just as he rounds the corner to the next set of enclosures.]

[Molly Walker was right, unicorns sparkle. And there's Cameron.]

Beautiful.

[ooc: I have a feeling he wouldn't want to leave her by herself, and would probably try to feed her the reason that she didn't abandon him when he first arrived. So maybe her apartment? Or his. He'd probably be sitting somewhere nearby reading if she'd fallen asleep. We can skip to that if you'd like.]
