[She breaks into a real grin then, not untouched by her habitual worry-lines but clearly genuine. She pulls a packet of chopped meat from the freezer and heads for the microwave.]
See if there's anything to put on them, in the refrigerator?
[ She pads over to the refrigerator, as normal as any little girl might carry herself. What Cameron can't see behind the opened refrigerator door is that small smile pressing against her lips- an authentic emotion. ]
Umm, there's a head of lettuce? Ketchup... mustard. I don't need a lot of stuff on mine. How about you?
[There is, of course-- a variety, in fact, of small pieces of fancy types, but there's a little brick of standard cheddar there too. Cameron leans against the counter for a moment as the beef defrosts, before bending to take a pan from a low cabinet.]
[ The head of lettuce is pitched gently up and down in her hands, before it's handed off onto the kitchen counter. Next follows the bottles of condiments, then over to the drawers where she's met with with a bit of confusion. Who knew there were so many different types of cheese? She's seen various types in grocery stores, but for someone to carry an assortment in their own drawer? Weird. Best bet is to go with the one with the brightest orange hue, which she plucks out and sets down next to the bottles. ]
I thought you lived with Dr. Chase?
[ She knows Cameron doesn't (because she is a stalker) , but ignorance is always a good cover. ]
[She doesn't quite meet Mindy's eyes here; she doesn't want to discuss it. It's not because she's a little girl, it's because Cameron doesn't talk about certain things if she can help it. Not even with Chase.]
That was just for the curse. It's just me, usually. And the cat,
[she mentions almost as an afterthought, smiling slightly. The microwave beeps.]
[ Judging from her perspective during the curse, Mindy shouldn't take the logistics of that circumstance as anywhere near fact. Unless she really is, unknowingly, Chase and Cameron's kid, which is clearly impossible. Just because they were married doesn't imply there's anything going on between the two doctors, even if those medical shows on television like to pair up co-workers.
But Cameron's life isn't a television show, obviously. ]
Oh. [ She tilts her head slightly to the side, settling her gaze on Cameron. ] That explains all the locks.
[She glances over her shoulder as she takes the plate out of the microwave. Her expression might be a smile, by definition, but it's got a grimness to it.]
The City isn't a particularly safe place. I don't think one can be too careful. [And she turns away again to pull apart the still chilled but no longer frozen meat.] Can you reach the cooking spray in that cabinet?
You ever try installing an alarm system? We used to have one of those back home. [ Amongst other security measures. ] The locks aren't a bad idea, unless someone comes up through the window or something.
[ Pushing herself onto the points of her toes, she stretches upward to snatch the spray from its shelf. ]
→ ACTION
[ Mindy states it with a grin, her posture relaxing as she leans back her right leg, then slipping one hand from its pocket. ]
I'll help, if you want?
→ ACTION

Then you've trapped yourself in.
→ ACTION
[Your less innocent interests are showing, Mindy.]
The only window with fire escape access is barred... so it's not too much of a threat, generally.
[She turns, looking surprisingly unperturbed by the subject matter.]
Do you want to handle the burgers from here?
→ ACTION
An alarm's still a good idea.
[ She's already looking through another drawer for knives to cut the head of lettuce. What did Cameron say about burgers? ]
Or I can cut the lettuce? Whatever's fine.
→ ACTION
You're probably right.
[She arches a brow, slightly, and takes the cooking spray, splitting her attention between dinner preparations and her company pretty seamlessly.]
That works.
→ ACTION
[ She washes the head and takes a knife from the drawer to cut neat, thin slices. ]
→ ACTION
[Really, she hadn't thought of it because it was never a matter of warning, here; everything awful happens nearly instantaneously.]
But it's worth looking into, I'm sure someone specializes in security.
→ ACTION
It's a big city.
→ ACTION
[For the moment she leaves it there, but mainly because the burgers are kind of a distraction-- the hiss of cooking meat fills the silence.]
