Anywhere else, this would be a philosophical question. Here I'm sure some of you can speak from experience.

Given the chance to get a look at your future-- assuming that under the circumstances, that knowledge doesn't grant you the ability to change it-- would you want to know?

If you do know-- would you rather you didn't?

I'm not sure I agree. The options are still pretty simple; "i know and i wish i didn't," or "i know and i'm glad," versus "i want to know," and "i don't want to." The situation informs the reason. That might not make sense, but it hardly affects the count.

Too much explanation could give away the game, don't you think?

Nope. If I can't actually change it, then what's the point of finding out? I'd rather just do my thing now and keep things going without worrying that X is going to happen in five years.

That's not to say I wouldn't be curious. I just don't see the point.

By and large, I tend to agree with you.

But for argument's sake-- what if you knew someone knew your future? You'd want them to keep the secret?

I'm still leaning on the side of no. Still no point in having them tell me about something I can only worry about until it actually happens. I mean, if they just can't help themselves from telling me, I'm going to treat them like a carnival psychic because who's saying they're actually telling the truth? I have a certain amount of trust in people, but it has to end somewhere.

Look. If somebody tells me that on Tuesday, I'm going to get hit by a Mack truck, I'll make sure that on Tuesday, I'm not wearing my favorite pair of thigh high boots. I'll deal with the truck when I see it, but I'm dealing with my fashion choices now.

Most people don't -- most people wouldn't believe you, even if you could see the future. If you are the only one who knows, how much could you even change?

I'm curious, but not with the proviso. There are plenty of things I'd have appreciated a little warning about. I'd have liked to have been told. But so I could do things better, not to sit on my arse feeling informed.

Oh, I'm terribly curious. But I never believe that I can't change things.
